Located in the north-east side of Montagut i Oix there is the Mare de Déu de les Agulles sanctuary, a small Romanesque building dating from the 12th century. Its name comes from an old tradition which consisted in pinning images of the Virgin Mary in the clothes with needles. According to the belief of that time, the needles became miraculous. As for the Romanesque building, it is a single nave church with a pointed barrel vault and semi-circular apse. The apse is orientated to the east and has a single window. The temple has two entrances: one on the noon wall and the other one, built at a later date, on the west façade.
