Rentadors de la Pinya

Els Rentadors de la Pinya are the most well-preserved washing places in La Garrotxa and the only ones in La Vall d'en Bas. They were used to wash and rinse clothes, although they also were a place where people gathered and gossiped, especially women and children. In fact, the Catalan expression “fer safareig”, which literally means “gossip about people while doing the washing in the washing place”, has its origin in these old washing places.
