Boscarró and Molí Fondo Museum Space

Description

Point of geological interest where three lava flows converge and it is possible to observe the columnar and lenticular habits that the lava takes when it solidifies. In Molí Fondo, blisters also surface, dome-shaped deformations in the roof of the casting, caused by the excessive pressure of the lava flow. The first lava flow is dated as the oldest in the area with an age close to 600,000 years. The second lava flow that only surfaces in this place is 150,000 years old and the third is 133,000 years old and comes from the Garrinada volcano. In Molí Fondo, between the first and second lava flow, you can perfectly see an ancient volcanic paleosol made up of pebbles, sand and silt. In the third pour in the old Boscarró quarry you can see very well formed basalt columns.
