Can Poeti gorge

Description

The thick basaltic lava flow coming from the Traiter volcano is of great interest. When the lava cooled down, it turned into prism-shaped basaltic columns. By the end of the 19th century, stonecutters would extract the basalt to build pavements, as well as bigger constructions such as the Port of Barcelona or its cobbled streets. This industry was favoured by the railway, built in 1900, when the great Can Poeti bridge, over Brugent river, of industrial Neoclassic style was constructed.
