La Barreja

During the Third Carlist War, on the 24th of August 1873, an encounter, which was won by the Carlists to liberal forces, took place in this spot.These events were narrated in the first person by Marià Vayreda in his novel Records de la darrera carlinada and demonstrate the fighting violence: “[...] we heard the sounds of bullets. They hit the trees that were hiding us and millions of leaves and branches rained down on us”.
