La Confianza

Description

The origins of LC Paper go back to 1881, when Jean Grelon, the son of French paper-millers, in partnership with the merchant Sebastian Rosal, built the La Confianza paper mill on the banks of the Fluvià, next to an old artisan paper mill.

The construction of this continuous paper mill was the result of the modernization of the paper mills that had historically operated on the Olot-Girona axis. This transformation became the most important exponent of the industrial revolution in the counties of Girona.

In 1960 the factory passed into the hands of the company Emilia Vila, S. A., paper manufacturers from Sarrià de Ter, and in 1968 the Sociedad Papelera La Confianza was formed. Today, now called LC Paper, the factory is widely known for being a pioneer in the development of technology for sustainable paper manufacturing. Since the summer of 2017, it has been producing tissue products with zero CO2 emissions, thanks to the start-up of a biomass plant for the generation of green electricity.
