Museum space – Clay pits of Croscat volcano

Description

Volcanic cone with collapsed horseshoe-shaped crater and lava flow more than 6 km long. The Craters area of the Croscat volcano was restored in 1995 in order to allow visitors to observe and learn what a volcanic cone looks like inside. The distribution of the different layers and the colors of the volcanic rock form a unique outcrop in the world to understand monogenetic volcanism, i.e. volcanoes that form in a single eruption.
