Santa Magdalena and Providència channels and locks

The area where Santa Magdalena bridge stands became the main industrialization focus of Olot in the 19th century. In this area, the river forms several slopes which the industries used to build channels and locks. At the end of the 19th century and at the beginning of the 20th the lock known as La Providència used to divert the water to a channel below Ca l'Artigas factory.
