Walls and trenches

Description

The wall was built during the second half of the 14th century and beginning of the next century. The initial defence role took a backseat since the main function of the walls and trenches of towns like Sant Feliu was an attempt at rationalising the urban area. The original enclosure had three doorways. The trenches indicate the space situated between the walls and the houses that could not be built over. In keeping with the wall, one of the strategical infrastructures of medieval Sant Feliu was the construction of a bridge over the ravine in 1334, a piece of work directed and carried out by the master Arnau Fuster, a quarrier from the town of Anglès.
