La Moixina

Description

The Moixina spring is surrounded by a stunning landscape. It was restored in 1890 using volcanic stone, in a romantic yet elegant style. Both the Moixina and the Bufaganyes spring have been classified as assets of Local Interest due to their historical and popular value, as well as their huge landscape wealth. In fact, the landscape surrounding them, the water, the paths and the vegetation offer different light perspectives depending on the time of the year, the time of the day or the way the sunlight falls on them. This is why at the end of the 19th century they were a source of inspiration for the artists of the Olot School of Landscape. This landscape is characterised by the singularity of its humid oakwoods, which are a great example of how the forests had been in Olot. The humid weather also allowed rare flora species to live in the south of the Pyrennees. Among the interesting elements of the Moixina settings, the Mare de Déu de la Salut chapel is of great interest, burnt in 1936 and rebuilt in 1942, thanks to the donations of the artists from Olot. The marshes, with its rich fauna and flora, as well as the grove located in the Parc Nou formed by oak, box and common holly, are also worth noting.
